From April 3 – April 14, Film at Lincoln Center and The Museum of Modern Art present the 53rd edition of New Directors/New Films (ND/NF), the annual festival of discovery celebrating new filmmakers whose work evolves the art of filmmaking in bold, striking ways. This year’s slate includes Wang Ping-Wena and Peng Tzu-Hui’s Taiwanese film, A Journey in Spring, aging married couple Khim-Hok (Jason King) and Siu-Tuan (Yang Kuei-Mei) bicker, gripe, and commiserate, inhabiting the familiar rhythms of a well-trod daily routine—until a sudden death throws their world into a state of muted disarray.
