It’s our second newsletter during the quarantine, here in New York City. I almost wonder if I should be typing The Quarantine, since it has affected all of our lives in so many significant ways. Even so, I hope that you have found solace in your fellow New Yorkers, your friends, your family members, and all your loved ones. I have collected some musings and advice from your fellow TAP-NY members and some of our board members to share with you! I hope these can brighten up or inspire your day!

Musings from the Great Indoors

  • [I’ve become] much more appreciative of my family and friends. We take them for granted when we have them around. –Allison Wong, TAP-NY Marketing and Membership Chair
  • There’s not much we can do about the macro in the world right now, but maybe we can come out as more passionate, self-aware, and grateful human beings on the other end. –Matt Chen, TAP-NY Professional Chair
  • I continue to be touched by the resilience of our community and loved ones – both near and far. We have rapidly adapted and reassessed priorities. Families and friends have, in many ways, become closer than ever. While fear and uncertainty are undeniably present, always remember there is a silver lining! Stay strong! –Rachel Lin, TAP-NY Community Chair

What I’ve Been Up To

  • Documenting pole dancing practice on Instagram! And cat (Milo!), of course. –Diane Hsiung, TAP-NY Member
  • Besides playing Animal Crossing with all my quarantined friends, I’ve been doing intermittent fasting (16:8) during the weekdays, and working out almost every morning to keep fit. Plus, since I’m home most of the time now, I plan on planting and growing more. So far, I have Chili peppers, Mini tomatoes, and Salad rocket growing from my Click & Grow. –Ryan Szeto, TAP-NY Member

Advice, If You Would Like

  • [If you’re working from home], minimize any potential distractions; for instance, put your phone out of sight and set times you can check it (you can set sound notifications for when important calls/texts come in), get changed and make your bed so you’re less likely to want to hop in, and don’t have a show/movie playing on the side. –Julie Shen, TAP-NY President
  • During this time, it’s a great time to be independent and rely on yourself to get through the loneliness and boredom rather than relying on others. We suddenly have a lot of time on our hands, and it may be a long time until we have an “opportunity” like this – take advantage of it! –Warren Niu, TAP-NY Social Chair

Thank you for reading this far! If possible, let’s all put some more positivity in this world, for ourselves and for others. And if you’re not feeling it, that’s okay. I see you. A lot of the time, I’m right there with you. It’s okay to be sad or stressed or down or lethargic or bored or all of those things tangled up. Check in with yourself, and know that you’re good where you are—you’re human. But as my loved ones have supported me through this time, I too want to put a little more love out there whenever I am able. This is why I’m writing to you.

Sarah, TAP-NY Vice President
