This year, TAP-NY is welcoming six new board members. Learn more about them below – and be sure to make it out to an event to meet them!

Alice – Cultural/Tech Chair

What drew you to TAP and why did you decide to join the board?
I was interested in exploring Taiwanese communities after moving to NYC last year and heard about TAP through word of mouth. Everyone in TAP was so welcoming that I decided to join board in hope to give back to the community.

What do you hope to accomplish in your role? New event ideas?
I hope to organize events that showcase the wonderful cultures of Taiwan through food, art, and history. I would love to work with small businesses in the city, collaborate, and bring attention towards them.

What is your favorite aspect of Taiwan?
I love the people there. They’re always so welcoming whenever I visit. And definitely can’t forget the food! Taiwanese breakfast will forever be my comfort food.

Jasper – Professional Chair

What drew you to TAP and why did you decide to join the board?
I attended TACL’s 2022 National Convention in NYC and met a ton of TAP folks (including other city chapters). There were so many cool people coming from all sorts of backgrounds and industries, all passionate about the TA community. Joining board is my way of giving back and helping continue TAP’s history of amazing events and community!

What do you hope to accomplish in your role? New event ideas?
As incoming Professional Chair, I’d like to not only continue Jonny’s work on expanding mentorship and new grad engagement, but also experiment with new/resurrected ideas such as a “Taiwan Career Trek” or a platform for members to invest in Taiwanese small businesses and/or creatives.

What is your favorite aspect of Taiwan?
The Taipei MRT! (>>>> the MTA)

Greg – Community Chair

What drew you to TAP and why did you decide to join the board?
I was introduced to TAP-NY through one of my friends in 2021 shortly after I moved to the city. My first event was the summer boat party which was a lot of fun. Since becoming a member, I have attended a number of other TAP events and have met some great friends along the way. One of the aspects I enjoy most about TAP is the variety of programming available and the opportunities to meet new people. TAP’s strong focus on giving back and promoting the greater NYC community is also something special. I joined the board to hopefully offer new ideas for events and engagements that will make the organization even stronger.

What do you hope to accomplish in your role? New event ideas?
As the incoming Community Chair, I would like to help TAP-NY partner with various AAPI, nonprofit, and volunteer organizations in the city to host different events for our members. As one of the many TAP members who enjoyed participating in community-based events in the past, especially volunteer events, I think it would be great to have more events like these in the future.

What is your favorite aspect of Taiwan?
The food, especially Taiwanese braised beef noodle soup and bubble tea!

Shannon – Treasurer/Membership Chair

What drew you to TAP and why did you decide to join the board?
Being new to the city, I wanted to meet people and be involved in the community. I was initially introduced to TAP in Austin through a friend; after attending a few events in New York, I was encouraged to apply. I was really drawn to the organization’s meaningful local impact yet strong alumni and national network.

What do you hope to accomplish in your role? New event ideas?
I’d like to foster bonds and facilitate fun events for our members. Some event ideas I had include organizing museum tours, chinatown walking tours, and forming events to support Taiwanese or Asian American local businesses.

What is your favorite aspect of Taiwan?
Family (and food)!

Tiffany – Social Chair

What drew you to TAP and why did you decide to join the board?
I recently moved to NYC and was looking to meet new people and ultimately just be a part of a community out here. When I attended my first TAP events, I loved how friendly everyone was and just the diverse group of people that TAP brought together! I’m excited for the opportunity to plan events that bring people together and hopefully help others find a community in this vast city 🙂

What do you hope to accomplish in your role? New event ideas?
I hope to help TAP members connect with others and to have a memorable time at our events. Given my involvement in the healthcare field, I would love to plan some more fitness or wellness-related events. Some ideas I have include hosting a yoga class, a mini “spa” day, and a baking session, but I’d love to hear from TAP members what they’d like to see!

What is your favorite aspect of Taiwan?
The food, of course!

Reggie – Cultural/Tech Chair

What drew you to TAP and why did you decide to join the board?
I was inspired by how TAP events did more than bring the Taiwanese American community together!

What do you hope to accomplish in your role? New event ideas?
I want to host fun events that engages to the diverse Taiwanese American culture! Who wants to learn Mahjong or Go?
