Tell us about yourself! It can be about anything – where you grew up, your professional background, your hobbies, etc.

I was born and raised in Queens, NY to immigrant parents from Taiwan. They made it a point for me to be raised in a home that kept and practiced Taiwanese traditions and culture so being Taiwanese has always been a huge part of my identity. In 2014 I decided to move to Taipei and experience living life in Taiwan. I taught yoga full time there until December 2020 and loved every moment of it. Now I am back in my hometown, NYC, working as a yoga instructor, a pharmaceutical sales rep, and a doula.

Why did you join TAP? What are your favorite events?

I was excited to connect with the Taiwanese American community in NYC and make some new friends. TAP events seemed like the perfect place to do just that. It’s also been a great platform for me to share what I love most, YOGA! My favorite TAP event so far was the Tappy Hour stand up comedy event. I loved seeing such diverse talent being showcased and represented in NYC. Also, shout out to Esther Chen, Taiwanese American comic who is just incredibly talented and hilarious!

Tell us something cool that happened to you this past year.

I was flown out to the carribeans to teach a private yoga session earlier this year and upon arrival learned that I’d be teaching yoga to a retired NFL football player on the beach during sunset! It was definitely one of my highlights of this year!

If we wanted to hang out, where would we find you?

Come zen out with me at St Marks Yoga!

What’s your advice for newer members who want to get more involved?

I would suggest following TAP-NY on social media and subscribe to the news letter to be notified about future events. Join the events that peak your interest and even if you attend alone, you will end up meeting lots of new friends as I have!
