Dear TAP-NY Family,

Happy New Year!

We hope you all had time to recharge over the holidays, and we are looking forward to bringing our community together through some exciting new initiatives we are planning. While we are remaining virtual for the time being, we will continue to assess the situation and are hopeful for a safe return to in-person events (even if socially distanced!) this year.

Through this pandemic, we recognize that our community and staying connected is more important than ever, but also acknowledge the unique challenges that come with a remote environment. As such, we are focused on finding innovative ways to help build meaningful relationships. To start, we are excited to introduce family groups, which will consist of small groups of TAP members led by our board members. These groups will meet regularly (currently virtually) to enjoy a variety of activities, be it games, book clubs, discussions, or movie screenings. The idea here is to create a more intimate and consistent space for members to get to know each other at a deeper level. Click here to learn more and to apply – we are looking for feedback as well as we launch these groups to ensure they are tailored to our community’s needs and preferences. Spots will be very limited as we pilot this program.

We are also revamping our monthly dinner series and will be hosting games series instead while we remain virtual, starting with our January event, which is now open for registration here.

If you have not had a chance to meet our entire board yet, stay tuned via our social media as we will be launching a ‘Meet the Board’ series for you to get to know each of us better. We would also like to share that we are welcoming a new board member, Emily Oing, this year as our Community and Cultural Chair and invite you to learn more about her here.

While a lot has changed over the last year and there is much uncertainty in what lies ahead, what will remain constant is that our values of community building, openness and friendliness, and cultural and social relevance will continue to guide our work. As always, we would love to hear from you – what you have been to, ideas you have to help foster our community, and any other feedback.

We look forward to making the most of these unique times and having you join us for all the fun, civic engagement, cultural aspects, and personal and professional development that we plan to deliver. Here’s to 2021 and seeing you all soon!

Cheers,

Julie, Kelly, and Rachel
