Tell us about yourself! It can be about anything – where you grew up, your professional background, your hobbies, etc.

Hi! I grew up in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, and later moved to the U.S. with my parents at 16. I’ve spent some time living in Asia too! I lived in Hong Kong and Japan, and I’ve also had the opportunity to travel in that region. I really enjoyed my experiences there and learned a lot about being independent and self-reliant. It also forced me out of my introverted shell!
I came to New York City about 3 years ago as an intern with the U.N., I’m currently pursuing a career in UX/UI or User Experience design, and I’m attending a Masters program in Communication Design at Parsons School of Design.

I have a ton of interests and hobbies, so it’s hard to find the time or finances to do them all! I like arts&crafts, trying my hand at cooking, and outdoor activities. One of my goals this summer was to learn how to surf! Summer’s almost over though so it might have to be something for next year!

Why did you join TAP? What are your favorite events?

I joined TAP because I wanted to be more active in the Asian community and meet more young Asian professionals in New York City! I like TAP’s events because it brings out people for networking and making new friends! I’ve joined a variety of events from tea-tasting, cooking, restaurant-ing, to volunteering! I haven’t done any of sports activities but I hope to do them in the future!

Tell us something cool that happened to you this past year.

Something cool….. Oh I saw Guy Fierier filming at a restaurant, and I also saw Chance the Rapper in person! (Granted he was there as an invite because of another singer’s performance but it was still pretty cool).

If we wanted to hang out, where would we find you?

Hmmm, Ktown sometimes?? I like East Village and West Village, both having pretty good restaurants and bars as well. I’m okay with hanging out anywhere in the city.

What’s your advice for newer members who want to get more involved?

Join more events and don’t be afraid to talk to people! Everyone is super nice and friendly :).
