1) Why did you get involved with the TAP-NY board?
When I first joined, there wasn’t an active Taiwanese American group. What better way to spend some of my free time than to help build a community around young TA professionals?
2) What did you discover in your involvement that you never expected you would?
Two years ago, I did not think TAP NY would become as big as it is today. There are many Taiwanese Americans in New York City. It’s amazing how we are so spread out but we could be literally working in the same organization or have the same social group and not even know it.
3) What was your favorite TAP-NY event that you went to?
Oyster pancake cooking class.
4) What will you miss the most about being on the board?
The monthly board meetings! It’s a Sunday each month that I set side to spend with the board, review previous events and go over the upcoming events. It’s a great feeling seeing an organization grow the way TAP has for the last two years.
5) How will you continue to stay involved in the Taiwanese American community?
I’ll continue to come out and support TAP events.
6) What advice would you tell a TAP member that is considering joining the TAP-NY board?
It’s incredibly rewarding to spend time doing something for other people. Being actively involved means you get much more out of your time spent. Plus the board is a super cool bunch of people!
7) What is your favorite place in Taiwan and what do you miss most about Taiwan?

1) Why did you get involved with the TAP-NY board?
Because more so than Bob, you really cannot say no to Ben Ling (shout out!), and because we want to uncover all the underground Taiwanese in NYC!
2) What did you discover in your involvement that you never expected you would?
The power of teamwork and dedication. As one of the founding members of the NY chapter, I am still amazed at how far the organization has come within such a short period. And with our success brings greater responsibilities – I have learned that there is much more that we as an organization can contribute to the local Taiwanese community and even to our homeland. Knowing that you can make a difference gives a great sense of achievement.

Various cooking workshops – food really does bring people together!
