Central Park (exact loc TBD)
Join TAP-NY for a workout in Central Park with Achilles International, a nonprofit organization dedicated to enabling people with all types of disabilities to participate in mainstream running events in order to promote personal achievement. You will serve as a walker or runner to guide athletes for distances ranging from 1.6 miles to 6 miles. Athletes and volunteers are paired up for the duration of their run based on speed and distance. You will help your athlete run or walk around Central Park. Achilles will have athletes training for marathons, others walking for enjoyment, and everything in between. The athletes have a wide range of disabilities, most of which are visual impairments and mobility issues. All volunteers play an important role in helping the athletes reach their goals.
Exact meeting location in Central Park will be provided as the date draws closer.
