TDP x TAP Data Science Panel & Networking

Do you work in data science? Or, are you interested in data science and want to learn more about its applications? Join us for a special collaboration event between Taiwanese Data Professionals (TDP) and TAP!


We will kick off with a panel of three data science professionals sharing their thoughts on the field, applicable skills, and job markets. This will be followed by a Q&A session, and then wrap up with networking among the attendees.




Panel Bios


Chuan-Heng (Henry) Lin, is a Machine Learning engineer at Pienso. An artificial intelligence startup building a platform to democratizes machine learning. He holds a master’s degree in data science with a focus on smart cities from NYU and has experience across various New York tech startups that concentrate on applied machine learning application such as computer vision and natural language processing. In 2016, he won first place in a human-trafficking hackathon with software that enhances analyst case management for the New York Defense Attorney office. In 2017, He was a speaker at PAW conference to share his experience on how to use social media mining the crime pattern in NYC.


Kuang-Ting Chang is a Data Scientist at Penguin Random House. He graduated from NYU with an MA in Applied Quantitative Research in 2015. He had worked for a pharmaceutical research company as a Data Analyst for two years before he moved to the current position. He has a huge interest and experience in the field of data analysis, quantitative research and software engineering.


Szu-Min is now a master’s student studying Applied Quantitative Research at NYU. Her research interest is in gender, politics, and labor markets. Her M.A. thesis is about motherhood penalty and single mothers’ earnings in Taiwan. She applied statistical models and analyze data to answer her research questions. She is familiar with quantitative methods and mainly uses R. Before she pursuing master’s degree in the U.S., she completed her bachelor degrees in Political Science and Law at National Taiwan University. She also earned a certificate in Women and Gender Studies. She now works as an intern in the Deputy Commissioner of Equity and Inclusion at NYPD. She is responsible for the data entry, data analysis, and policy analysis.
