July 15, 2017
9:00 pm – 2:00 am
Bowery Beer Garden / Mr. Wu's Basement
93 Bowery, New York, NY 10002
Historically, 9-man volleyball was a sport played by Chinese immigrants in the U.S. as a means to socially connect laborers living in Chinatown communities.
Today, the game has become increasingly popular within Asian American volleyball circles across North America.
Every July, thousands of players take over Seward Park in Chinatown for the NYMini volleyball tournament. This year marks the tourney’s 30th anniversary, and TAP-NY is co-hosting a mixer with the NYMini to celebrate the players, the tournament, and the game itself. The event is open to everyone, so whether you want to learn more about 9-man, meet new people, or just want to get your Saturday night started off right, come out to the Bowery Beer Garden / Mr. Wu’s Room.
No cover all night. No dress code. Click here for event details on Facebook.
If you’re interested in checking out the actual tourney (July 15-16), head here for more info: https://www.facebook.com/events/1186539324826218/
TAP has a women’s team competing in the tourney, as well as many members participating on their respective teams. Come cheer them on!
