Join us for the second installment of TAP-NY’s book club! As summer is winding down and school is starting up again, we decided to choose the book, Reading with Patrick, a memoir about the life-changing friendship between an idealistic young teacher and her gifted student, jailed for murder in the Mississippi Delta. Next month, we will be holding an exclusive event with the author, Taiwanese American Michelle Kuo, to discuss the book and share your thoughts.
“It’s an intimate story about the failure of the education and criminal justice systems and the legacy of slavery; about how literature is for everyone, how books connect people, and the hope that with enough openness and generosity we can do the hard work of knowing each other and ourselves.” — Kuo
