Calling all BBQ lovers! For our February Dinner Series, rejoice and revel in a medley of grilled meats and vegetables with Victor Wang (VP, Operations) and Jessica Chen (VP, Programming) at Yakiniku West in East Village.
Check your shoes at the door and get cozy at this traditional Japanese hibachi restaurant, where you can channel the inner Benihana chef in you by grilling with fellow TAP members. What better way to stay toasty this winter than near the glowing embers of a grill while your juicy Kobe beef sizzles and cooks? For extra warmth, wash it all down with some Sapporo or hot sake. If all of this doesn’t sound tantalizing enough, we will also be partaking in Yakiniku’s happy hour food and drink specials (ends at 7:00 pm, so don’t be tardy).
Not a grilled meat fan? The menu also offers sushi platters, Korean dinner fare, and seafood options for good measure. We hope you join us for an exciting dinner, and even more exciting conversations with new and old friends.
About Victor and Jessica
Victor calls Long Island home, and works in tech. Since he’s not the biggest fan of the great outdoors, you can find him indoors playing basketball, reading up on current events, or watching his favorite guilty pleasure TV show — The Bachelor. He is passionate about promoting advocacy, and loves an intellectually-stimulating conversation.
Jessica is a Bay Area native, working in the marketing field. She will eat anything with cheese on it, enjoys healthy competitions, and has gone fishing in over 20 countries. When she’s not fishing, Jessica is involved with volunteer endeavors focused on providing sustainable living solutions in under-resourced regions of Uganda.
Victor and Jessica became friends years ago when Jessica worked at a K-town bar to pursue her bar-tending (and drinking) interests — a bar Victor happened to frequent with his pals. Their friendship grew as teammates on the TAP volleyball team, as gold medal champions of the 2013 TAP Olympics (熱狗fosho), and now as longstanding TAP-NY board members.
Note: Because of heavy demand for dinner series, we have implemented a lottery process for dinner series sign ups:
Sign ups for February dinner series will close 2/14/17 at 11:59 pm ET, after which we’ll randomly select people to attend.
Those not randomly selected will be notified and will receive priority for attendance at future dinner series events.
Note: while registration for the event is free, individuals are still responsible for covering their own meal. TAP facilitates these dinners to help members get to know each other more in an intimate setting.
