June 24, 2016
7:00 pm – 9:00 pm

Astoria, Queens, NY

At this month’s Taiwanese cooking workshop, we’ll be making “chicken wrap,” or ji juan (雞捲). An eclectic night market snack with a delicious history, we’ll work together to mix ingredients, steam our culinary masterpieces, and eat with the group!

Interestingly, contrary to what its name might lead one to believe, chicken wrap doesn’t always contain chicken. Instead, the snack is so named because the outside soft tofu skin mimics a chicken’s skin, the vegetables inside emulate a chicken’s “bones,” and the fish paste and meat inside mimic the meat. It’s a great mix of flavors and we’re excited to share them with you!

The total cost for this event will be $10 per person and will be paid on site. Please only register for this event if you can make it. Directions to the cooking workshop site will be sent in the days prior to the event. If spots are filled, sign up on the wait list for a chance to get a spot!
