PRESIDENT – Bob Wu
Bob was born and raised in Houston, TX. He graduated from the University of Southern California, where he studied International Relations with a focus on Global Business. Upon graduation, Bob participated in the TACL Political Internship and received the Joyce Chiang Outstanding Political Intern Award. After working in different places throughout the world like China, Mexico, Paraguay, and Vietnam, Bob ended up in New York City and is currently a Sr. Analyst with a private investment firm. Bob has served on the TACL national board since 2005. Under Bob’s guidance, TAP NY received the inaugural Chapter of the Year Award in 2011. Bob is passionate about leadership and education policy, and in his free time enjoys Kendo, Boxing, and Chinese calligraphy. (bob.wu@tap-ny.org)
INTERNAL VICE PRESIDENT – Charles Pan
Charles Pan spent most of his childhood in Kentucky before going to Philadelphia to attend Penn. After graduation, he moved to Austin, Texas before moving to New York. He’s been actively involved in the Taiwanese American community, including participation in the Formosa Foundation’s Ambassador Program, Penn Taiwanese Society, and the Intercollegiate Taiwanese American Students Association (ITASA). He also currently serves on the Board of Directors of ITASA. Charles hopes to help broaden TAP’s engagement with its membership and bridge ever more Taiwanese American connections. EXTERNAL VICE PRESIDENT – Eugene Tsai
Eugene Morimoto Tsai was born and raised in NY. He attained his undergraduate degree at Lehigh University in Bethlehem, PA and completed his graduate work at The Cornell Hotel School in Ithaca, NY. He is currently working for RockSteady Development LLC, which is a NY based real estate and hospitality company. He is currently the local chapter president for TJCCNA (Taiwanese Junior Chamber of Commerce North America) and was also the founder and president of a NY based nonprofit organization for 2nd generation Taiwanese Americans. TREASURER – Hubert Paul
Hubert Paul was born in Saudi Arabia during his father’s job transfer from Taiwan. He was then raised in Ohio, Colorado, and New Jersey. He graduated from Rutgers University and worked for Prudential Financial in the Fixed Income group. He then worked for Citco Fund Services for three years, where he worked with various hedge fund clients. He now works for a multi-strategy hedge fund, supporting the Domestic and UK trading desks. Now residing in New York City, Hubert still enjoys the outdoor activities he did as a child: playing golf and basketball in the summer, soccer in the fall, and skiing in the winter. CO-SOCIAL CHAIR – Athena Chang
Athena Chang was born and raised in Taipei, Taiwan. She graduated from National Taiwan Normal University. After college, she moved to the US to obtain her master’s degree in Communications, Culture & Technology at Georgetown University in Washington, DC. Through her first internship, she found interest in online marketing and is currently working as a Search Engine Marketing Manager at an advertising agency. CO-SOCIAL CHAIR – Aaron Wu
Aaron was born, raised and educated in Georgia, earning his degree from Emory University. He previously worked as an investment banker, advising companies in the telecommunications sector. Currently, he is a manager at a start-up firm specializing in advertising technologies for the television industry. Prior to co-founding the Taiwanese-American Students Association (TASA) his freshman year of college, Aaron participated in the Overseas Compatriot Youth Formosa Study Tour to Taiwan. Aaron is a lifelong volunteer, having accomplished numerous non-profit jobs/projects, including working as a public librarian as well as teaching English abroad to under-privileged children in the mountainous areas of Taiwan. MEMBERSHIP CHAIR – Brooke Chuang
Brooke was born and bred an East Coast girl. She grew up in NJ and attended Rutgers University, where she majored in finance and fell into a career on Wall Street instead of law and never looked back. After starting her career at Merrill a month before the world imploded, she now works at an Australian bank where she learns phrases like arvo and bogan. Brooke loves to snowboard and dance in her free time and is always willing to try new foods/adventures. (brooke.chuang@tap-ny.org)
PROFESSIONAL CHAIR – Jacqui Wu
Jacqui Wu was born in Hawaii and grew up in Taiwan. After graduating from Taipei American School, she moved to Ann Arbor to attend the University of Michigan Ross School of Business, where she earned her Bachelors of Business Administration. Jacqui began her career at PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP in the Dispute Analysis & Investigations group, which focused on the accounting aspects in litigation and fraud investigation. She recently moved into investment banking and joined Sevara Partners LLC, a start-up boutique investment bank focused in mergers & acquisitions, restructuring advisory and capital raising. Jacqui is excited to be working with TAP to build a community of “expatriate” Taiwan-folk to pay homage to their Taiwanese roots and meet other foodies who appreciate delicacies like stinky tofu and chicken gizzard.(jacqui.wu@tap-ny.org)
SOCIAL MEDIA & WEBSITE CHAIR – Andy Ni
Andy Ni was born in New York City and currently resides in New Jersey. He graduated from Rutgers University in 2006 with degree in Finance and upon graduating decided to work for a technology consulting company. Andy is an avid golfer, loves to play basketball and ultimate frisbee, and is one of the biggest Rutgers sports fans there is. He visits Taiwan once a year to see family and friends. DESIGN CHAIR – Kate Wang
The arts are her passion. Dance and fashion are her loves. Design is her life. Kate is currently located in New York, where she works for Vanity Fair during the week. On evenings and weekends she’s either designing up a storm for her freelance projects, baking something sweet, lounging on the couch in her pj’s or creating new memories with friends. A native bay area Californian, she tells her fellow New Yorkers that her hometown is located between Google and Apple.
Kate has a long-standing history as both a mentor and leader in her community, and takes both roles seriously. She is eager to help expand TAP-NY and watch it grow. (kate.wang@tap-ny.org)
COMMUNITY CHAIR – Jennifer Lin
Jennifer Lin was born in Taiwan and grew up in New Jersey. She graduated from Pennsylvania State University Smeal College of Business. She is currently working at UBS Financial Services as a Senior Risk Analyst. During her spare time, Jennifer enjoys snowboarding, softball, golf, tennis, and playing the piano and violin. She also loves to try new restaurants and travel. She speaks fluent Mandarin and understands conversational Taiwanese. She also visits Taiwan once a year. Jennifer likes to be involved in community service projects. So if anyone has any great ideas or wants to get more involved in volunteer events, please feel free to contact her. CULTURAL CHAIR – Alex Shih
Alex was born and raised in Connecticut. He graduated from Princeton University, where he studied public policy, in 2011. At Princeton, he was actively involved with the Taiwanese American Students Association. He served as the Vice President of the Intercollegiate Taiwanese American Students Association (ITASA) from 2010 to 2011. Taking part in activities with TASA, from attending the simplest of study breaks to organizing the 2011 ITASA East Coast Conference, make up some of his happiest moments as an undergrad. Alex is interested in public relations, advertising, and media. He keeps up with the latest in Mandarin and Korean pop music and loves to go KTV. He enjoys meeting new people, hanging out with friends, and discussing the politics of East Asia and Eastern Europe. (alex.shih@tap-ny.org)
SECRETARY – Andria Chang
Andria is born and raised in Taiwan, with stints in New York and L.A throughout her childhood. After graduating from Taipei American School, she attended the University of California- Berkeley with a double major in Business Administration and Economics. Upon graduation she worked in both investment banking and corporate strategy at Lehman Brothers where she might or might not have been responsible for its downfall. Since the financial crisis, she has quit Wall Street to work in publishing and part-time consulting, and she is still amazed that anyone would hire her at all. BOARD MEMBER AT-LARGE (DATABASE)- George Liao
George was born in Taiwan but grew up in New Jersey. After high school, he attended Columbia University and graduated with a degree in Computer Engineering. Upon graduation, he worked as a developer at Goldman Sachs, developing trading and workflow applications. Since then, he has moved to a New York City startup, Seamless Receipts’, where he manages the infrastructure and design process, as well as develops the systems. BOARD MEMBER AT-LARGE (VIDEO & MULTIMEDIA)- Vincent Lin
Vincent Lin is an award-winning Taiwanese American director and founder of Valiant Pictures. A graduate of NYU, his passion for creating compelling and memorable stories has allowed him to present his work all over the world, and garnered projects with IFC Films, Dreamworks SKG, @radical media, and SMUGGLER. His 2010 short film, Chase Thompson, won best short film at the iP Film Contest, ACEFEST, and Houston Worldfest. (vincent.lin@tap-ny.org)
ADVISOR TO BOARD – Teddy Liaw
Teddy Liaw has been an active 2nd gen leader in the Taiwanese American community for several years. Today, he serves as the National President of the Taiwanese American Citizens League (TACL), where he previously served as the National Chairman of the Board, and also was the Internship Coordinator for several years. He was the 3-term President of Taiwanese American Professionals (TAP), and is largely attributed its growth as the author of the TAP Mission Statement and Constitution. He graduated from UC Berkeley, where he served as student body President (ASUC), created the Asian American Association (AAA), and Project SMILE. He currently is the Senior Director, Retail and Direct Response at LiveOps, a Silicon-Valley-based technology company. (teddy.liaw@tacl.org)
