Exciting news! Apex for Youth is expanding its middle school mentoring program to a new Brooklyn site. The majority of the students who attend the partner school in Bensonhurst (Brooklyn) are recent immigrants from China. They would benefit greatly from having a mentor to guide them through this transition.

Apex provides workshops to help mentoring pairs achieve goals in three ā€œCā€ areas: 1) Be ready for College, 2) Become Confident, and 3) Give back to the Community. Apex also provides social and recreational group events that expose mentees to new experiences and foster a sense of community among pairs. These programs enable mentees to broaden their horizons, improve academically, build a more positive self-image, develop stronger interpersonal skills, and cultivate valuable friendships.

Apex is looking for Mandarin-speaking mentors, who would be paired with a middle school student to provide guidance and introduce him/her to new experiences twice a month on Saturday afternoons (prior youth or volunteer experience is a plus).
