Member of the Month: Tim Wang

Tell us about yourself! It can be about anything – where you grew up, your professional background, your hobbies, etc.

Hello, everyone. My name is Tim Wang. I grew up in Belmont, MA (a suburb of Boston) and moved to NYC in 2008 to begin my professional career. I consult clients on how to best optimize their marketing dollars across their marketing channels. Even though I work (some of my friends find this hard to believe), I’d say I’m more of a “work to live” rather than “live to work” type of person.

Right now my favorite hobby is spending time with my 2 furry children, Bubbles and Cotton (my dogs!). They are a ton of fun to be around and bring me indescribable joy every day. I also enjoy playing softball, poker, golf, beer pong (Krush!), the list goes on.

Why did you join TAP? What are your favorite events?

My brother and his friend, Chris Chen (ladies, Chris is single), had been going to TAP events, and I decided to tag along one night. I met a bunch of awesome people and ended up joining the TAP football team (we won a championship!) and later the TAP softball team. The TAPpy Hours are fun, and my favorite event was the Tap Ski Trip, where we partied so hard after hitting the slopes that we were told to turn off the music. Boooo.

Tell us something cool that happened to you this past year.

Hmm, something cool that happened to me this past year. I got married! That’s pretty cool. For those who know me, who would’ve guessed that I would be married this year?? My friend Matt, who I met through TAP, fixed up my Coffee Meets Bagel profile, and I eventually got matched with my wife, Sherry! So, it all comes full circle back to TAP. One of the many reasons to join.

If we wanted to hang out, where would we find you?

Back in the day you would most likely find me at Ichi, Circle, Krush or a party that Tom Tung Cheng was promoting (hit him up!). We had our wedding afterparty at Circle, so I guess not much has changed.

What’s your advice for newer members who want to get more involved?

Even if you don’t know anyone at a TAP event you are thinking of attending, just go! People are very friendly and open to chatting with you! If you see me around, don’t hesitate to say, “Hi.” I’m always down for meeting new people!
