1. Tell us about yourself! It can be about anything – where you grew up, your professional background, your hobbies
Acting is my passion and design is my mainstay. I grew up in the suburbs of Philadelphia, and have lived in Seoul, Beijing and Changchun (where I get my trilingual-ness from). In my spare time, I’m probably doing fun photo shoots (any photogs out there want to collab?), perfecting my triple Salchow, and reading up on the meaning of life. It’s also my life mission to try every independent coffee shop in New York City. So yeah, there’s that.
2. Why did you join TAP? What are your favorite events?
I moved to New York two years ago, and I wish someone had told me about TAP earlier. I went to so many Meetup events, which was honestly a lot like speed dating – quite awkward, and you wished they ended before they even started. But ever since my first TAP event (a TAPpy Hour), I knew this was going to be a long, rewarding relationship. My love for TAP has grown with every event I attend, and I have to say my personal favorite was the Summer Olympics this past September. I volunteered, met so many great people, and had such a blast.
3. Tell us something cool that happened to you this past year.
I got to play a strong Asian American character in a film where she calls a white guy out for his yellow fever, which was pretty awesome. You can find out more about it here.
4. If we wanted to hang out, where would we find you?
I’m on Swarm! It’s a location check-in app, and a lot of other TAP members use it too. Add me @beguileiota. You can see where I’m checked in and just come hang out! Alex (the prez) just might drop in when you’re least expecting him.
5. What’s your advice for any newer members who want to get more involved?
It may be a little intimidating to go to the bigger social events, like TAPpy Hours or the concerts/galas, so I would recommend smaller events for new members, like the dinner series or board game events. I’m personally very excited for the upcoming ski trip, so I hope some new members who are on the fence about that see this and decide to come!
