On the evening of Sunday, October 11th, The Taiwan Center in Flushing will play host to the “Hello Taiwan” concert, a benefit event with music and food, all for a great cause.
Taiwanese food, including intestine vermicelli (大腸麵線), Taiwan Beer (台灣啤酒), and Taiwanese sausage (烤香腸) will go on sale at 5 PM, with the concert beginning at 7 PM. Among the performers:
– 9m88 (Joanne Baba), a young Taiwanese up and coming singer whose musical stlye mixes R&B, hip hop, and jazz
– Pig Head Skin (豬頭皮), a Taiwanese rapper known for rocking the boat with lyrics that resemble satirical commentary
– The Chairman (董事長樂團) a Taiwanese band that has released ten albums and garnered multiple awards for its unique style of modern and traditional rock
All proceeds from the concert will go toward Taiwan’s “Sunshine Social Welfare Fund” (陽光基金會), which will be using the money to benefit burn victims from the unfortunate explosion at a Taiwan water park earlier this year.
