March 13 – In an old subway station on the corner of Bowery and Kenmare, 168 Bowery filled its front room with around 50 people for TAP-NY’s Volunteer Open House.  Attendees dined on dimsum delicacies from Chinatown icon Nom Wah Tea Parlor and mingled with other passionate TAP members and volunteers.

People learned about TAP-NY’s mission & board members (http://tap-ny.org/about/), our sister TAP branches across the U.S. (e.g., LA, SF, San Diego, Boston and DC) and our rocketing growth since inception in 2010 – we completed our first year in 2010 with 860 members and 23 events; in 2012, we had 2,834 members and held 77 events.

Our goal is to continue to create top-notch, fun events for our members, but to do that, we need your help!  TAP members can choose to be manpower or mindpower volunteers for each of our 6 committees: Social, Community Service, Professional, Cultural, Design/Web and Membership.  The Night Market on April 19th is in dire need of volunteers to help put together our largest event of the year!

Take a look at our presentation (link) and let us or the respective chairs know if you are interested in helping out.
